The collection contains the Rare Book Insurance Ledger, 1942-1960, listing call numbers and prices of books in the collections with the exception of deposits and McGregor Library books. Notations indicate reasons for inclusion of low value books such as association copies or Confederate imprints. Loose bundles of papers inserted in the volume record insurance value for exhibits on loan. A set of loose supplements, 1967-1975, contains titles added to the reports with notices of net inventory change, inventory balance and insurance carried.
